Each wrinkle represents a chapter in your life and each blemish tells a story of misuse. Laughter lines tell the world that your life contains humor, while a drooping mouth says there is an underlying sadness or anger to our tale.
The skin that covers our body reacts to our emotions, so that people under stress often find their skin becoming dry and taut, and in severe emotional states, dehydrated. Hormonal changes produce spots and blemishes as well as increased oiliness. Climate also affects face and body skin. Hot weather can produce lumps and bumps as well as dryness and wrinkles, while moist damp air has a beneficial effect and gives the skin a dewy texture.
Cigarette smoke can age a face by making it grey and wrinkled, and pollution has the same effect – which is why we see more and more young women with prematurely ageing facial skin.
Skin breathes, absorbes and is not waterproof. There are differences between male and female skins. Skin can tell us difference of the touch. Skin is one big activity centre, with hairs growing from their follicles, nerve endings sending out their messages, toxins being eliminated, temperature checks being taken and through the capillaries, blood and lymph fluid travelling back and forth.
Essential oils work cosmetically and as anti-aging agent in several ways. They stimulate skin cells into reproducing at quicker rate, thus reducing the time-lag between new skin growth and the elimination of old cells and reversing the process of aging in which this time span is extended. Skin that has been treated with essential oils thus becomes more dynamic and stronger.
Being in good physical condition helps to keep the energy level up. Even one essential oil can great help in your personal revitalisation programme.
Take for example geranium.
This is an excellent oil helping you deal with stress, tiredness and anxiety over problems. Geranium won’t actually get rid of the problems, but it will get rid of anxiety so you can better deal with the problems.
Use 6 drops of geranium oil in the bath or put 60 drops into 30ml light nut oil for a face oil or 30 drops into 30ml for a body oil.
